BAE SYSTEMS Wins Laser Warning Contract
AUSTIN, Texas, Sept. 26 -- BAE SYSTEMS recently received a $3.1 million contract from ATK Integrated Defense Co., in Clearwater, Fla., to produce integrated laser warning receiver systems.
BAE SYSTEMS Integrated Defense Solutions, based in Austin, Texas, will provide the laser warning receiver to ATK for a variety of US military aircraft. The laser warning electronics are integrated into ATK's AN/AAR-47 (V)2 missile warning receiver.
The AAR-47 is a common-housing, fully integrated missile and laser warning system to be installed on more than 3,000 US Navy and Air Force helicopters and transport aircraft.
Production deliveries are scheduled to begin this month and will extend to October 2003.
The BAE SYSTEMS laser warning receiver integrates sensor performance into the existing hardware of ATK's improved missile warning sensor. Laser warning technology alerts aircrews when laser-aided or laser-guided threats are present, allowing them to take appropriate counter actions.
