BOTHELL, Wash., Sept. 12 -- Laser technology developer Aculight Corp. has been awarded an 18-month, $2.3 million contract from the US Air Force Research Laboratory at Kirtland Air Force Base to investigate new semiconductor and fiber laser technologies.

Aculight's research will focus on improving the optical characteristics of semiconductor and fiber lasers; its new technology is expected to provide substantial improvements in the performance of certain types of lasers, the company said. The research work includes study
