Program to Ease Motion Systems Connectivity

National Instruments has initiated cooperation among motion product manufacturers to facilitate integration between controllers and stages. Nine motion hardware companies have joined the Motion Partners Program. Their products will be tested to ensure easy connectivity with National Instruments' software and hardware. A Web site provides information on positioning hardware, advice on configuration and listings of cables and components.

Motion control product manager Jayson Wilkinson said that members gain online visibility and access to the company's customer base. Setting industry standards for connectivity is a long-term goal, he said, "but whether that is feasible is questionable."
