Peregrine Semiconductor, a supplier of integrated circuits for the optical networking and wireless communications markets, has established a new unit to develop products for the stringent quality needs of the space and defense markets. Peregrine Semiconductor's co-founder and CTO,
Ronald E. Reedy, Ph.D., will head the division as vice president of space and defense at the company.
. . . Advanced Lighting Technologies Inc. announced it has received another order for its patented MicroDyn reactive sputtering equipment. The latest order brings the total for 2002 to approximately $4.8 million. MicroDyn technology is used to apply complex multilayer optical thin film coatings to a variety of substrates for numerous markets, including specialty lighting, medical, projection display, laser, telecommunications and government/aerospace.
