GaSe Yields High-Output IR Beyond 20 µm
Using a GaSe nonlinear optical crystal, researchers at
Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa., and the
US Air Force Research Laboratory at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio have produced widely tunable mid- to far-infrared radiation that extends beyond 28 µm with a peak power output of 2.2 kW at 4 µm.
