Corning Files Infringement Suit

CORNING, N.Y., June 6 -- Corning Inc. filed suit today in US Federal Court in Rochester against PicVue Electronics Ltd. of Taiwan and Eglasstrek GmbH of Germany, alleging misappropriation of trade secrets and infringement of copyrights related to Corning's fusion draw technology for producing glass substrates used in active matrix liquid crystal displays (AMLCD).

Through its Display Technologies business, Corning manufactures two glass substrate compositions: 1737, which Corning said is the AMLCD industry standard, and the new EAGLE2000 glass. Over the last few years, Corning has been investing to expand capacity to keep pace with growing AMLCD demand, including the opening of a facility in Tainan, Taiwan.
