Kopin Corp., of Massachussets, is using its MOCVD technology to produce special transistors to use in modules for high-speed optical data transmission networks. Kopin received this order from the Japanese company Yokogawa Electric, which manufactures the modules. The heterojunction bipolar transistors (HBTs) contain InGaP compound semiconductors; Yokogawa Electric's modules contain lasers and HBTs.
