Growth Is Predicted for FO Isolator Consumption
The global consumption value of fiber optic component isolators will rise from $296.3 million in 2001 to $672.7 million by 2006, according to ElectroniCast's Fiber Optic Isolator Global Market Forecast. The isolators are used to prevent laser-output degradation caused by backscatter from the optical fiber or by backreflection from in-line components such as connectors, couplers and erbium-doped fiber amplifiers.
The report projects that the value of the North American relative market share will increase from 45 percent to 48 percent of the total during that period. Telecommunications will continue to lead the market in 2006, with 54 percent of the global market consumption.
The study, which profiles more than 40 isolator manufacturers, includes a 2000 to 2001 history and a 2002 to 2011 market forecast on free-space and pigtail isolators.
