GSI Restructures Kanata Operations

KANATA, Ontario, March 28 -- GSI Lumonics Inc. plans to consolidate its Systems business and its Laser Components business by the end of the fiscal year. With the restructuring, the Systems Business product lines will transfer to the company's Wilmington, Mass., location. The Laser Components Business product lines will transfer to the Rugby, UK, facility. GSI said it plans to offset much of the restructuring cost with savings generated in the current fiscal year and that it expects a net reduction of 50 to 60 jobs in the short term.
