Steady Rise Forecast for Fiber Optic Isolator Market

San Mateo, Calif., March 8 -- The global consumption value of fiber optic component isolators will rise steadily, from $296.3 million in 2001 to $672.7 million in 2006, according to ElectroniCast's Fiber Optic Isolator Global Market Forecast. The North American region held 45 percent of the relative market share in 2001, and this value will increase to 48 percent by 2006, the report says.

Fiber optic isolates are used to prevent laser output degradation caused by back-reflection from in-line components, such as connectors, couplers and erbium-doped fiber amplifiers, or backscatter from the optical fiber.

In 2001, telecommunications held a 56 percent relative market share of the global market consumption value of fiber optic component isolators. Telecommunications will continue to maintain this market lead in 2006, with 54 percent of the global market consumption, ElectroniCast said.
