EXFO Electro-Optical Engineering Inc. said it has made its wavelength meters more accurate in order to link them to reference material from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). The absolute wavelength measurement accuracy of each EXFO Wavemeter system (WA-7100, WA-1150 and WA-1100) is guaranteed to ± 1.5 picometers, the company said. The performance of every unit is verified using a laser with a wavelength that is known to be better than ± 0.5 picometers and is traceable to NIST Standard Reference Material SRM 2517a.   . . .   eMagin Corp. was awarded US Patent No. 6,337,492 for an invention it says could more than double lifetime or luminance in mobile information products designed to take advantage of the invention, such as aircraft helmet-mounted displays and sunlight-readable displays, or in those with frequent long-term fixed image patterns, such as instrument displays.
