Yoshio Nishi, senior vice president and director of research and development for Texas Instruments Inc., has been awarded the 2002 Robert N. Noyce Medal by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers for his contributions to the microelectronics industry. . . . Micronic Laser Systems AB, a Swedish manufacturer of laser pattern generation equipment to the semiconductor and display industries, has received a repeat order from a Japanese customer for a multipurpose pattern generator, MP80+, for use in advanced packaging and certain display applications. Delivery will take place during the third quarter of 2002.
