Air Force Awards Infinite Unit Phase 2 Contract
WARWICK, R.I., Dec. 7 -- Infinite Group Inc. said its subsidiary, Mound Laser and Photonics Center Inc. (MLPC) in Miamisburg, Ohio, has been awarded a $750,000 phase 2 small-business innovative research contract from the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) for a program that combines laser micromachining and micro-Raman spectroscopy for the development of laser-based processing techniques. These represent "enabling technologies for an emerging industrial base focused on the miniaturization, or more specifically, the sizing of 'energy-limited' products -- commercial and military,"' said Steven R. LeClair, branch chief and manufacturing research lead in the AFRL materials and manufacturing directorate.
Infinite Group CEO Clifford G. Brockmyre said, "This work is based on recent developments at MLPC and supports the Department of Defense Air Force mission in laser-based nanofabrication for sensors and other mission-critical components. "It directly supports our manufacturing capability for Infinite Photonics GCSEL laser diodes."
