3D Systems Wins French Patent Suit

VALENCIA, Calif., Nov. 20 -- 3D Systems Corp. said a civil court in Paris has ruled in its favor against EOS GmbH of Planegg, Germany, in an action for patent infringement of a laser sintering patent. The court's judgment includes payment of damages and legal costs and an injunction that prevents EOS from selling its plastic laser sintering systems in France.

Rights to the asserted patent were acquired by 3D Systems in conjunction with the acquisition of DTM. The patent relates to selective laser sintering systems that produce parts using a CO2 laser that binds powdered material. 3D Systems' Vanguard si2 SLS system uses this technology.
