Tactex to Develop Breast-Exam Training Technology

VICTORIA, BC, Nov. 12 -- Tactex Controls Inc., developer of the fiber optic-based pressure-sensing Smart Fabric, has formed a strategic agreement with The Mammatech Corp. to develop sensor technology for Mammatech's clinical breast examination training program, MammaCare.

Mammatech will fund the development and design of a new product that, integrated with MammaCare, will enable online, computer-assisted training of health professionals and eventually the public. Prototypes for the new breast exam models will be delivered within a month, and evaluation at teaching hospitals and clinics in the US is expected to begin by the end of the year. The companies will also work on a product to improve breast self-examination protocols.
