Cradle Technologies Inc., creator of the universal microsystem, has completed a first close of $10 million toward its Series D round of financing. This brings the total invested in Cradle to more than $40 million to date. . . . Electro Scientific Industries Inc. has ordered a Model 5385 CO2 laser drill from Samsung Electro-Mechanics. The order is a follow-on to systems shipped in August to Samsung's Kiheung facility in Korea, where they will be used in the production of printed circuit boards for the cell phone and IC packaging market. . . . FlashPoint Technology Inc. has announced an aggressive program to secure license agreements with the industry's leading digital imaging providers.
