Osram, OTM Sign Joint Development Agreement

HERZLIYA, ISRAEL, Nov. 7 -- OTM Technologies and Osram Opto Semiconductors have signed an agreement to cooperate in developing and manufacturing OTM Technologies' optical translation measurement (OTM) devices, including the Laser Point sensor.

OTM Technologies' Laser Point is an optical navigation and control device that provides improved performance over existing cursor control solutions in PDAs, laptops or mobile handsets. The sensor-based device, with 3-D control, will enable mobile device owners to use advanced interactive games, flexible map navigation and location-based services. Handset manufacturers will gain from the component's nonmechanical and miniaturized form. The design is based on OTM Technologies' patented OTM technology, which allows for measurement of the relative motion between an OTM sensor and practically any object moving across its optical aperture, using a coherent light source (laser) and an innovative optical setup. The sensor's aperture responds to fingertip movement, enabling cursor control and menu navigation.
