Laser Photonics and SurgiLight Lawsuits Dropped

ORLANDO, Fla., Nov. 5 -- Lawsuits filed by Laser Photonics (now PhotoMedex) and a countersuit filed by SurgiLight Inc. have been dismissed, and no payment was made by either party in the settlement.

PhotoMedex Inc. and its subsidiaries, Laser Analytics Inc. and Acculase Inc., in June sued SurgiLight in Orange County, alleging that a former employee of Laser Photonics disclosed trade secrets and confidential information to SurgiLight then used them to develop an excimer laser for the treatment of psoriasis and to apply for FDA approval. The lawsuit sought unspecified money damages and other relief against SurgiLight and the former employee, Timothy J. Shea, now SurgiLight's senior vice president and COO.
