Single Laser System Nears Completion

Light Age Inc. has received a Phase II Small Business Innovation Research grant to develop a laser system capable of generating deep-UV and mid-IR coherent light.

The company is collaborating with researchers at the University of Alabama to complete the system, which is based on the alexandrite-pumped lithium fluoride color-center laser developed in the first phase of the project.

The technology will be marketed for use in the UV and the IR for telecommunications and for spectroscopy and countermeasure applications, respectively.
