Cable & Wireless Taps Ciena for Bandwidth Grooming Applications

LINTHICUM, Md., Oct. 24 -- Ciena Corp. said that Cable & Wireless has selected its MultiWave CoreDirector intelligent optical switching system for access bandwidth grooming applications.

Cable & Wireless will use CoreDirector to consolidate, groom and manage a wide variety of bandwidth access levels from STM1 to OC48 across its global IP network. Cable & Wireless will also use Ciena's network management systems for automated route provisioning and dynamic circuit restoration that will be essential to meet customers' needs in the global bandwidth market.
