nLight Photonics, an early stage optical component supplier, announces the grand opening of its 57,000 square-foot, state-of-the-art laser diode manufacturing plant in Vancouver, Washington. The Vancouver facility will provide nLight Photonics with laser diode manufacturing capabilities. Completed in August, the plant will start production in October. The facility includes 22,000 square-feet of class 1000 cleanroom.

Optelecom, Inc. announces the creation of its "America First Team," (AFT) a work group comprised of select managers and key employees dedicated to meeting an anticipated upturn in demand by the military, government, and private sectors for security and communication technologies. Optelecom equipment is used for video surveillance and security monitoring applications at many public and private facilities including airports, stadiums, and commercial establishments where large groups of people congregate.
