StockerYale Opens New R&D, Manufacturing Facility

SALEM, N.H., Sept. 20 -- StockerYale Inc. has opened a 15,000 square foot R&D and manufacturing facility adjacent to its existing 80,000 square foot plant and corporate offices. The facility will be the home of iSOFC, a majority-owned subsidiary, which will concentrate on the development of all-fiber optical components.

Danny Wong, the president of iSOFC, will manage the to day-to-day operations of the new R&D facility in addition to overseeing StockerYale's optical fiber manufacturing operations.

"The construction of this new, state-of-the-art facility is the result of continued demand from major optical component manufacturers for our primary, enabling optical sub-components and specialty optical fiber," said Mark W. Blodgett, StockerYale's chairman and chief executive officer. "With the completion of this new R&D and manufacturing facility, StockerYale has increased its capacity to design and manufacture preforms and, combined with the ability to draw its own specialty optical fiber, the company will produce best-in-class fiber custom-tailored to meet customer requirements. This new facility clearly positions the company as a principal player in the optical sub-components market," Blodgett added.
