New Low Noise, Large Area X-Ray Detectors

CAMARILLO, Calif., Aug. 15 -- Advanced Photonix, Inc. has introduced a new series of highly sensitive, low noise x-ray detectors based on their proprietary Large Area Avalanche Photodiode (LAAPD) technology. These new detectors can be used for direct detection and spectrometry of beta particles and low energy x-rays, or, when coupled with scintillators, for sensing gamma rays and higher energy
x-rays.
They have been specifically designed for easy mechanical interface to vacuum chambers; additional packaging configurations are available for OEM needs. Other active area sizes, including 3-mm, 10-mm, and
16-mm diameter, are also available.
