The VC4472 Smart Cameras feature a 1 1/8-in. CCD sensor with 1600 × 1200-pixel resolution and a maximum rate of 10 fps (20 in binning mode). Available from Vision Components GmbH, the devices incorporate Texas Instruments’ digital signal processing generation (1 GHz, 8000 MIPS) and offer an 8-bit color overlay that can operate in an opaque or transparent mode. They are equipped with a high-speed encoder interface, an RS-232 and an Ethernet interface, and an external trigger input that enables jitter-free image recording, even at high reading frequencies. They have an SXGA output, four digital PLC inputs and four digital outputs. They come with 4-MB flash erasable-programmable read-only memory and 64-MB synchronous dynamic random access memory for program and picture storage, which can be extended by a 512-MB secure digital card.
