The Rock, a stable single-frequency fiber laser that is insensitive to vibration, has been released by NP Photonics Corp. The device can be implemented in a variety of OEM laser systems. It is based on a proprietary passive stabilization technique, which the company says reduces the sensitivity of the frequency noise to both vibration and low-frequency acoustics. Applications include oil production and harbor security.
