Xenon Corp. is offering a curing system for Blu-ray Disc manufacturing that uses pulsed UV radiation to provide 1000-W/cm² peak pulse power for penetrating and curing the 100-μm-thick transparent cover layer on the discs. Integrating easily into any in-line process for manufacturing third-generation optical storage media, the CoolCureXL RC-801 system features a spiral lamp to match the footprint of the 12-cm-diameter discs. The system, which comprises a lamp housing, a separate controller and a power supply, produces <300-μs pulses and is mercury-free. Features include instant on/off, fast cycle times and cool operation.
