IMAGE SENSOR

For automotive and industrial applications, Eastman Kodak Co. has unveiled its KAC-00400 progressive-scan 1/3-in. optical format image sensor that captures still and motion images. Features include an on-chip 12-bit A/D converter, fixed pattern noise elimination circuits and a video gain amplifier. Readout rate is 60 fps, power dissipation is 180 mW, operating temperature is from –40 to 85 °C and dynamic range is 60 dB, extendable to >100 dB. Monochrome quantum efficiency is 60% at 550 nm, and color is 40% at 450, 550 and 650 nm. The sensor has a wide-VGA format with 768 × 488 pixels, resulting in an expanded field of view that provides additional data for pattern recognition and object detection algorithms.
