LightTime LLC is offering the MPU series LightClock for next-generation microprocessor units. Fully scalable clocking technology reduces microprocessor power consumption and jitter, while generating a high-gigahertz-frequency signal that can be distributed via free space or waveguides among and within multiple cores/chips. The instruments are pulsed semiconductor lasers with a timed photonic signal output. Pulsed repetition rates are 8 to >100 GHz over wavelengths from 700 to 1600 nm. Average CW output power is >40 mW, with peak power of >160 mW. Rise and fall time is <30% of the pulse width, and jitter is ∼1 ps rms.
