The X Flies
SAN JOSE, Calif. May 9, 2008 -- This year's CLEO (Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics) at the McEnery Convention Center in San Jose went off without a hitch. Photonics enthusiasts from all over the world poured into the exhibit halls hoping to catch a glimpse of the latest products and applications in a variety of sectors.
Some of 2008's hot topics included organic photovoltaic energy, plasmonics, nanophotonics, silicon photonics, single-chip integration, fiber lasers, nonlinear optics in biology, gallium nitride lasers and VCSEL developments.
Next year's CLEO will be held May 31-June 5, 2009, at the Baltimore Convention Center. The "CLEO Exhibit" will there launch its new identity in as the "PhotonXpo."
