Refractive Focal-πShaper systems from
MolTech GmbH convert a Gaussian laser beam into flattop, “donut,” “reverse Gauss,” “trident” or rooflike intensity profiles near the focal plane of a focussing lens installed after the device. The company says that the conversion is accomplished with almost 100% efficiency.
Input and output beam sizes are similar, and steep edges and accurate profiles of kerfs can be realized. Systems are available for the near-IR, visible and ultraviolet spectra and can be used for applications such as flow cytometry.
Efficient use of energy is achieved, the heat-affected zone is reduced, and reliably controlled focussed beam size is provided. The beam shaper can be easily integrated into systems for scientific and industrial applications because of the absence of internal focussing, easy alignment, compactness and quick adaptation to a particular optical setup.
Applications include laser marking, scribing, dicing, micromachining, drilling, flow cytometry and controlled laser heating.
