TAOS_TSL238T_ProductPhoto.gifTexas Advanced Optoelectronic Solutions (Taos) has introduced the TSL238T, a light-to-frequency converter that combines a silicon photodiode and a current-to-frequency converter on a single monolithic CMOS integrated circuit. Output is a square wave (50% duty cycle) with frequency directly proportional to irradiance on the photodiode. The digital output allows direct interface to a microcontroller or other logic circuitry. Temperature-compensated for the 320- to 700-nm range, the device responds from 320 to 1050 nm and operates from –25 to 70 °C. It is supplied in a compact surface-mount package that is lead-free and RoHS-compliant. Dark frequency is <6 Hz at 50 °C.
