CMOS Sensors for Distance Measurement
Hamamatsu’s new CMOS distance sensors are capable of real-time distance measurements up to several meters using the time-of-flight (TOF) method, making them suitable for obstacle detection, shape recognition, and other applications in the industrial and robotics fields. These sensors are sensitive to 400-1100 nm wavelengths, with peak sensitivity to 800 nm light. In addition, they have a built-in timing generator for easy operation, and they drive LEDs and laser diodes used in distance measurements. Several sensor configurations are available. The S11961-01CR is a linear sensor with 256 pixels, each measuring 20 x 50 µm. The S11962-01CR has a 64 x 64 pixel array and pixel size of 40 x 40 µm. The S11963-01CR features 160 x 120 pixels, with each pixel measuring 30 x 30 µm.
