The most common type of achromat, the doublet, is a compound lens consisting of two elements cemented together. These precision microminiature optical components can be custom-engineered, ground and polished to micron tolerances. They are suitable for use in applications including endoscopes and other medical devices. Besides careful grinding and polishing of the complex lenses, the company’s quality control regimen verifies the centration of each element before and after cementing.
