WAYNE, N.J., Nov. 17, 2011 — Vision Research has unveiled its line of Phantom Miro M-Series digital high-speed cameras, including the M110, M310 and M120.

The 1-megapixel Miro M110 and M310 include a proprietary custom-designed 1280 × 800-pixel CMOS sensor, whose wide-screen format allows users to keep objects in the frame longer and to see more of the event they are recording. The M110 offers throughput of 1.6 gigapixels per second, enabling image capture at up to 1600 fps at full resolution. The M310 offers throughput of 3.2 gigapixels per second and can capture up to 3200 fps at full resolution. If higher speeds are needed, reduced-resolution images are available at up to 400,000 fps for the M110 and up to 650,000 fps for the M310. Both models feature high light sensitivity and a high dynamic range for high-quality low-light images.

The 2-megapixel M120 also includes a company-designed CMOS sensor with a throughput of 1.6 gigapixels, resulting in the capture of 730 fps at 1920 × 1200, 800 fps at 1920 × 1080, or 1200 fps at 1152 × 1152. If a higher speed is needed, the M120 can deliver reduced-resolution images at up to 200,000 fps. The M120 offers a high dynamic range and uses microlenses on its sensor to achieve good light sensitivity.

The cameras feature a global electronic shutter; 3-, 6- or 12-GB memory configurations; a Phantom CineFlash storage system; an extreme dynamic range function; a rechargeable battery; and a compact, rugged design.

The 3-, 6- or 12-GB memory configuration can be segmented into as many as 16 partitions for cine storage. Each camera comes standard with auto exposure, image-based auto trigger, particle image velocimetry mode, burst mode, an integrated internal mechanical shutter for remote and automatic black references, and camera synchronization.
