Code Discs
A code disc is a reticle carrying pattern of various forms that can be rotated in an optical beam to cause variations in the intensity of the beam. They are also used in infrared detectors to scan the object field and locate sources of IR radiation. A third type is used to give a binary coded output representing angular readings from a theodolite or tracking instrument.
