Tiffen Joins Schneider Optics’ Motion Picture Filter Div.
Ira Tiffen is the new vice president of the Motion Picture Filters Div. at Schneider Optics Inc., the company announced recently. Tiffen has four decades of experience in developing specialized optics for the film, television and still photography markets.
Tiffen spent more than 30 years at The Tiffen Co., where he created many special filter effects for cameramen. More recently, at his own company, Optefex LLC, he developed the Optefex Blue Streak filter line, which he will bring to Schneider, the company said.
Tiffen also holds several patents on photographic accessory designs, including ones for snap-on filter rings, for a tripod handle and for a matte box that eliminates the need for a filter frame.
He will oversee the division from the company’s Hauppauge, N.Y., office.
