Novaled Founders Honored for Innovation
Three of the founders of Novaled AG were awarded the German Future Prize — German President's Award for Technology for breakthroughs in the field of organic electronics.
In Berlin on Dec. 14, German President Christian Wulff presented the team of professor Karl Leo of the Technical University of Dresden and Fraunhofer IPMS Dresden, Dr. Jan Blochwitz-Nimoth of Novaled AG and Dr. Martin Pfeiffer of Heliatek GmbH with the annual prize that honors creative teams for their scientific achievements.
The winning team made breakthroughs in the field of organic electronics. At the Technical University Dresden, the team developed unique OLED technologies that can substantially reduce the energy consumption of an OLED product. These technologies can be applied in new generations of flat panel displays, low-power lighting and flexible solar cells.
The three scientists are at the center of a strong organic electronics cluster in Saxony.
Novaled, OLED and organic electronics technology manufacturer, and Heliatek, organic solar cell producer, are both spinoff companies of Technical University Dresden and Fraunhofer IPMS.
