Flir Systems Inc. has received a $16 million order from an Asian government customer for its Recon B2-FO integrated dual-channel thermal binoculars, the sensor systems maker announced Monday.

Flir said the customer, an ally of the US, is a longstanding one and one of the largest users of its Recon product line. Work under the order will be performed at Flir's facility in Billerica, Mass., with shipments expected to be completed in the next 12 months.

"We are very pleased to have been selected to provide these high performance long-range handheld imaging systems for this counterterrorism mission," said Andy Teich, president and CEO of Flir.
