Emcore Corp. of Albuquerque, N.M., has announced full-scale production of its new 56-Gb/s 14 data rate active optical cables for computing, Ethernet router and switch applications. The high-speed cables are an addition to the Connects Cables line. The company said it is the first manufacturer in full-scale production of the cables, which are produced at its contract facility in China. Designed for computers, telecommunication routers, storage networks, and grid and cloud computing systems, the cables provide a high aggregated level of data throughput in a compact, lightweight form that supports the bandwidth needs of these advanced systems.
