Edmund Optics’ potassium bromide (KBr) windows are ideal for FTIR spectroscopy and feature excellent transmission from 250 nm to 26 µm with an index of refraction from 1.46 to 1.59 over this range. KBr windows provide good resistance to mechanical shock, can be easily cleaved, and can be used in temperatures up to 300 ºC. KBr has a density of 2.75 g/cm³ and a Knoop hardness of 7.0.
