NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I., May 3, 2012 — Hexagon Metrology has released the Version 1.1 firmware update with enhancements for the Leica AT401 Absolute Tracker. The AT401 now features full-speed digital readout for dynamic laser tracker measurement processes and free-form surface inspection.
The portable 3-D laser tracker enables high-speed measurements for complex applications, such as large-scale inspection, component adjustment, alignment and building of jigs and fixtures. It is used in inspection and tool building for oversize components in the aerospace, rail and heavy transportation, nuclear, and solar and wind energy industries.
The AT401 performs measurements without a warm-up period, allowing the operator to turn on the system and start measuring within seconds. The upgrade introduces features such as “outdoor mode,” which increases performance when the tracker is used in adverse conditions such as rain or snow. Other improvements include the use of several reflectors in view of the sensor at the same time. The laser tracker’s built-in WiFi can now be used in a company’s encrypted WiFi infrastructure, even with several sensors in the same network. The firmware allows the operator to quickly see where reflectors are placed.
All new Leica Absolute Tracker AT401s will have version 1.1 factory-installed. Existing AT401s can be updated for free by downloading the new firmware from the Leica Geosystems website.
