IRVINE, Calif., July 6, 2011 — The Integrity VCS series vibration control systems launched by Newport Corp. provide a stable platform for basic photonics research and development at university, government and corporate labs. The systems include a steel honeycomb damped optical platform and a mating support frame that is available with or without active-leveling pneumatic isolators.

The systems are available with traditional 8- or 12-in.-thick optical platforms and a new 6-in.-thick platform that is suitable for less demanding applications. All feature a full array of tapped holes, ¼-20 or M6, that extend to ½ in. from the edges and that include a proprietary and patented sealed-hole design to prevent core contamination and to facilitate cleanup and small part retrieval.
The optical platforms incorporate a reinforced truss, vertically bonded core design that provides maximum rigidity and reduces relative platform motion resulting from dynamic, static and thermal forces. The design provides rigidity-to-weight and inherent broadband damping.
The systems are available in three levels of performance, depending upon damping and budgetary requirements.
The frame system features a pair of welded tubular steel uprights with integrated leveling feet and three reinforced safety tie bars to provide a sturdy, yet open-front frame structure, suitable for laboratory space use and storage. Optional casters can be field-installed, rendering the system easily transportable.
The integrated accessories attach directly to the frame, and the optional overhead shelf features a laminated top surface and steel edge supports that reinforce the shelf and provide a small lip to help prevent instruments from falling onto the platform.
