SANTA CLARA, Calif., Feb. 3, 2011 — Spectra-Physics, a Newport Corp. brand, has launched the Spitfire Ace, a technically advanced, ultrafast regenerative amplifier that provides long-term performance and delivers average power of >5 W in 1-, 5- and 10-kHz configurations, with M2 <1.3 beam quality.

The highly stable device is suitable for pumping multiple optical parametric amplifier systems and for performing a wide range of ultrafast nonlinear spectroscopic science applications.

Building upon the successful Spitfire platform, the Spitfire Ace system features digital synchronization electronics and is equipped with XPert technology that ensures maximum stability with guaranteed, reliable performance over hundreds of hours. The amplifier is designed for use with the Mai Tai seed laser and Empower pump laser platforms.

The new Empower 45 pump laser delivers >45 W of average power at 5 kHz and is equipped with proprietary noise reduction technology. The Spitfire Ace performs optimally when seeded with the Mai Tai SP oscillator. The hands-free Mai Tai SP laser does not require alignment, cleaning or adjustments, and its specifications are guaranteed over an extended 20 °C temperature range.
