BOULDER, Colo., Jan. 26, 2011 — Precision Photonics Corp. has announced a line of superbroadband high-energy polarizing beamsplitters for use in visible to near-infrared applications.

They use proprietary advanced ion-beam-sputtering coatings and a Telcordia-qualified epoxy-free chemically activated direct bonding technique to provide low-loss optical components that are thermally stable and suitable for high-power Nd:YAG and fiber laser applications where fluences are >500 mJ/cm2, and calcite or cemented cube polarizers cannot be used.

The superbroadband polarizers maintain a >500:1 extinction ratio throughout the entire visible to near-infrared (400 to 1100 nm) range, without sacrificing overall transmission (typically >92%) or damage threshold (>10 J/cm2). The fused-silica beamsplitters are available with a standard ½ × ½-in. input face, and custom prism polarizer assemblies are available in sizes from 1 to >25 mm.
