Portable Power Systems Inc. has unveiled the PPS series high-power
touch screen laser diode drivers. The units are user-friendly and offer a large,
vibrant 5.7-in., 262,000-color thin-film transistor LCD touch screen graphical user
interface display and offer “save” and “recall” configurations
for voltage, current, pulse width and frequency. The units are available in either
continuous-wave or quasi-continuous-wave formats. Voltage of up to 250 V and currents
of up to 400 A can be realized. The operator can enter parameters via the touch
screen by using a displayed keypad or an iPOD-type control that is displayed. The
units also can be controlled by a supplied RS-232 interface or an optional general-purpose
interface bus.
