Princeton Instruments has released LightField, a 64-bit data acquisition
software platform for use in spectroscopy and scientific imaging. It controls the
company’s cameras and spectrometers via tools that streamline experimental
setup, data acquisition and postprocessing. It saves data to disk during acquisition,
applies a time stamp and retains raw and corrected data and experimental details.
The software is suitable for multiuser facilities and single-user labs. It remembers
each user’s hardware and software configurations, displaying all relevant
tools via an intuitive graphical user interface. It can be extended with proprietary
and patent-pending IntelliCal wavelength calibration software, suitable for use
in optical imaging; in Raman, fluorescence, laser-induced breakdown and photoluminescence
spectroscopy; in surface and materials analysis; in combustion studies; and in astronomy.
Compatible with Microsoft Windows 7 and Vista. An event-driven application programming
interface is provided.
