Master Bond Inc.’s UV22 nanosilica-reinforced UV-curable epoxy system cures rapidly upon exposure to UV light at room temperatures. The <50-nm filler provides high abrasion resistance and optical clarity, low shrinkage, good physical strength and viscosity of 4000 cycles per second. The tensile strength of the cured epoxy is >4600 lb/sq in. (psi), and its tensile modulus is >500,000 psi. The single-component system requires no mixing, has a low coefficient of thermal expansion and is a good electrical insulator. Post curing at 90 to 125 °C for 30 min yields a glass transition temperature of >120 °C.
