Andor Technology has released the iKon-L large-area high-sensitivity CCD camera with a 2048 × 2048-sensor array and 13.5-μm pixels. The camera offers a choice of forced-air or water cooling and combines a proprietary five-stage thermoelectric cooler and an advanced heat dissipation design to cool a large-area sensor to –100 °C. It produces up to 95% quantum efficiency and has a USB 2.0 interface for plug-and-play connectivity. It offers multiple selectable readout speeds of up to 5 MHz so that the user can choose faster readout for focusing and following dynamic events and slower for absolute minimal noise. The company’s Solis-i software provides intuitive acquisition optimization as well as advanced data processing and analysis.
