The iKon-L CCD camera from
Andor Technology plc features a 2048 × 2048 sensor array and 13.5-μm square pixels to deliver a large field of view, high resolution and dynamic range. The device integrates a choice of water or forced air cooling, and a proprietary five-stage thermoelectric cooler and an advanced heat dissipation design combine to cool the sensor to –100 °C with 10 °C water — without the use of liquid nitrogen or compressed gas — enabling longer exposure times. Air cooling achieves Ñ80 °C. Suitable for low-light imaging applications, the camera offers up to 95% quantum efficiency, multimegahertz readout for rapid frame rate acquisition, and USB 2.0 computer connectivity.
