CVI Melles Griot’s 85 BBB series blue solid-state lasers provide up to 30 mW of output at 488 nm with high electrical-to-optical efficiency. The devices are offered with the CLC series compact universal OEM controller to facilitate their integration into systems or instruments. They can be used as direct replacements for air-cooled argon-ion lasers in bioanalytical and medical applications, such as in flow cytometry, confocal microscopy and DNA analysis. Offering power consumption of <20 W, they simplify thermal management and increase operating lifetime. The devices feature an RS-232 interface, low-noise output, automatic power control for stability, stable operation at baseplate temperatures from 10 to 55 °C, beam quality of M2 <1.2 and minimal heat sinking requirements. The laser heads measure 125 × 70 × 34 mm.
